Biological Description Daptomycin is a novel lipopeptide calcium-dependent antibiotic, used in the treatment of certain infections caused by Gram-positive organisms. Exhibits potent bacteriocidal activity against most gram-positive bacteria in vitro and in vivo, including antibiotic-resistant strains such as MRSA and VRE.It is a naturally-occurring compound found in the soil saprotroph Streptomyces roseosporus.
