Biological Description Bortezomib is a selective and robust 26S proteasome inhibitor, that is a boronic acid dipeptide derivative. Targeted elimination of damaged or unwanted proteins via the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway is fundamental to the control of many essential cell functions, including cell-cycle progression, gene transcription, and apoptosis. Bortezomib has been reported to inhibit necrosis and cell proliferation, and downregulate metastatic gene expression.
